The charming little beach town of San Pedro, on Ambergris Caye, is a great place to base yourself for a week of fly fishing in Belize. This thriving island community has just about everything that an angler could want: great restaurants, lots of bars, a small casino, and outstanding fishing.

San Pedro is a warm, friendly town that defines the word "casual". With only 10 streets and no pavement, most people get around the village by walking, riding a bike or renting an electric powered golf cart. The laid back atmosphere on this island is a sure tonic to cure what ails you. Guests will take a 20-minute flight from the International airport in Belize City up to San Pedro. The short flight takes you over the extraordinary aquamarine waters of the Caribbean Sea that Belize has become famous for.

These aquamarine waters are where fly anglers can target the most sought after game fish. The last two trips we have hooked bonefish, permit, tarpon, barracuda, snook, jacks, and a variety of other colorful fish. Bonefish are most plentiful here and can run upwards of 8lbs, March however, can be a great month to target permit and baby tarpon... baby meaning 10-30lbs! The last trip we had schools up to 80lbs!

Ambergris Caye has NO fly shop, so bring your own gear.

Rods/Reels

• Bonefish - 7-8 Wt Rods, Reels with good drag and at least 150 yards of backing
• Permit, Baby Tarpon and Snook - 9-10 Wt Rods, Reels with great drag and at least 150 yards of backing
• Tarpon - 11-12 Wt Rods, Reels with excellent drag and at least 250 yards of backing.

• Hot Butt Bunny Gotchas size 4-6-8
• San Pedro Crabs Olive and Tan size 6-8
• Squimps White and Tan size 4-6
• Bonefish Mi-Ties size 4-6
