Spokane River, Wa

We are very fortunate in the Inland Northwest to have an urban trout fishery right in our backyard. However, despite running right through town the river sees very little pressure. Anglers will catch primarily rainbows, however browns and even sometimes a rarer cutthroat or brookie will grab your fly. It is also not uncommon for an angler to hook fish well over 20" on this river. Though this river has nice fish it is a very finicky fishery and does not give up its secrets easily. Anglers looking to catch massive quantities of fish should consider a different river. This river is for the angler that maybe limited on time and wants to get a "quick fix".

KXLY TV for Outdoor Story Tellers - Spokane River

Half-day trips are recommended for the Spokane during the summertime the evening typically fishes best up and into the darkness with caddis flies. Most trips will typically be walk-and-wade, however, half-day float trips will be available depending on time of year and water level.

Private Lakes, Wa

The Silver Bow Fly Shop has the exclusive rights to guide on two premier lakes in Eastern Washington. Located just a short drive north of Spokane these lakes offer fantastic opportunities to catch quality fish with beautiful scenery and uncrowded waters.

The closest lake, called Lake of the Woods, is a great place for beginners as well as anglers looking to possibly catch more fish. Babbitz Lake is just a little further north near the Pend Oreille River. Babbitz is more reminiscent of a high alpine lake with gin-clear waters and more technical fishing. Anglers will be more challenged by this clear water but will be rewarded with quality fish and beautiful scenery and probably a turkey or two as they are very common on the property.

We offer full day trips to each lake as well as half-day trips to Lake of the Woods. Fishing will be done from either McKenzie style drift boats or pontoon boats.

Rocky Ford Spring Creek, Wa

Anglers looking for a challenge should definitely consider Rocky Ford. With ultra-clear water, lots of bugs, and Ph. D's in flies Rocky Ford fish can be fussy! When you do hook a fish though you can bet it will be a good one. With the average fish ranging around 16-22" there are even bigger monsters that may go 10lbs!!! Rocky Ford is no secret so this fishery does see its share of anglers so bring your fluorocarbon tippet it is needed here! The great thing about "the Ford" is that you can usually sight cast to fish and the creek is catch & release fly fishing so you can always count on seeing some biggens' even if you can't poke one in the mouth!

Rocky Ford is located approximately 2.25 hrs from Spokane so we only offer day trips to here. There is no wadding allowed so waders will not be needed. The Ford is a great place to get to get rid of your winter time blues. Being a spring creek it remains consistent all year, however, the warmer months bring out the rattlesnakes and ticks so we tend to shy away from here as the weather warms!

North Fork of the Coeur d' Alene, Id

Located just East of Spokane, the North Fork of the Coeur d' Alene's emerald waters flow South through the Silver Valley before entering into Lake Coeur d' Alene. The North Fork is definitely a dry fly fisherman's paradise. Westslope Cutthroat rise to dries from Memorial Day weekend all the way through October. With no shortages of hatches and lower elevation, the cutthroat on the North Fork have a longer growing season resulting in some exceptional cutthroat. Most fishing on the North Fork of the Coeur d' Alene is walk in wade however we are permitted to float through June.

Steelhead Fly Fishing Trips

Grande Ronde River, Wa

The Grande Ronde originates just north of Baker City, Oregon and flows northeasternly into Washington State until it empties into the Snake River approximately 212 miles later. Over its lengthy course the river travels through beautiful valleys and breathtaking canyons that keep anglers dreaming of returning year after year. Along with amazing scenery, the Ronde is famous for producing consistent numbers of steelhead from 4-8 pounds with some going well over 10 pounds. Fish start showing up in decent numbers in mid-to-late September depending on water conditions, however October and November offer some of the best fishing. The Grande Ronde will fish through mid March as long as weather conditions allow access to the water.

We primarily float the Grande Ronde river with rafts or drift boats however we do offer wade trips for those that prefer to hit it by foot. Anglers may use single handed fly rods or Spey rods depending on preference. If you have never thrown a two-handed spey rod this would be a great trip to learn, as it is a very efficient tool to swing flies for steelhead on the Ronde. Fly fishing for steelhead requires patience and persistence, however when it all comes together, it is an exhilarating experience you will never forget!
