The Fishing
The Spokane River is on repeat for now... good dry / dropper fishing, some caddis action, swinging soft hackles, euro, etc. Good fishing as usual right now. Mid-day will be slowest with warmer temps, mornings and evenings best. The Spokane always fishes well late into the evening during the summer. River levels are low for this time of the year so wade fishing is no problem. Caddis are still hatching but not nearly as intense as they were a few weeks back. A x-caddis, elk hair, or something similar can be good late evening. Chubbies of course also finding fish, caddis pupa droppers always an option all summer.

The Fishing
The North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River is hanging in there and still a decent option while it's not peak anymore. Water is low so getting around is no problem. Maybe start dropping your tippet size down, smaller flies can help, mix in some terrestrials like ants and beetles, hoppers soon. Bugs will be present, but hatches will be light. Mornings are definitely best, maybe in the noon-ish hour. Hot days the afternoons will be slow and expect to have the inner tuber hatch ramp up as we approach the 4th of July, in particular the lower river. Still worth poking around though before the heat of summer really sets in.

Is the St. Joe River fishing good? Yes, the answer is always YES this time of the year and pretty much all summer. We are in peak awesomeness on the Joe and have been. Hatches are still present and will be unless the heat sticks around too much. You typically will see some caddis, yellow sallies, golden stones, and pmd's, maybe a few drakes still but probably not. Good wade fishing, still good floating (it is getting lower though for June). Dry / dropper combos yes of course, especially in the morning, single dries... why not?, soft hackles, small streamers... yes, yes, yes. GO FISHING.

The Fishing
Hot week for lake fishing, no reports locally. Fishing deeper and fighting / releasing fish will be important. Fishing lakes higher in elevation that are cooler are a better choice.
Hoodoo Pass is open to access the North Fork of the Clearwater. This is the latest from the North Fork Ranger Dist regarding road conditions in the area from their Facebook Page:

The Fishing
Want to try something different? Smallmouth fishing on the Lower Grand Ronde is exceptional this month. Smolt colored streamers, craw patterns, sparkle minnows, really whatever you want to throw will work. I always make a point of getting down here at least once in May, it’s not uncommon to have a triple digit day of smallie fishing when conditions are prime.
