The Fishing
The Spokane River is one of your better fall fisheries. Stable water, warmer water, and a few bugs still hatching make for good conditions. Mornings will be tough / slow. Mid-day and later will be best. BWO's and midges will have some fish podded up and feeding early afternoon for a few hours. While you could still throw a chubby / dropper around the indicator and euro rigs will produce more. Streamers and yes even some soft hackle fishing exist. There are a few fall caddis this time of the year. Nymphs can include... but not limited too... rubber leg stones, blow torch patterns, hot bead stuff, perdigons, san juans or squirmies, tungsten pt's, caddis pupa. Our guide crew is still running some trips and having some good days!

Not really many reports as of late, but the last reports we had were good. Dry fly fishing in the afternoons has a little window. Mornings are brisk, better to sleep in. Always worth dredging some streamers in the deeper pools too. For dries I'd say stick with small stuff.... bwo's, bwo emergers, midges and midge emergers, small purple haze. Probably won't see too many bugs anymore like October caddis or fall caddis. Definitely nymph rigs!

No reports as of late from the St. Joe River. Educated guess says it's like the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River still... just a smaller window if you were to have some dry fly opportunity. Mornings will be slow. Look for softer currents and deeper runs / pools. Bring your small bugs like bwo's and midges, plus emergers in both of those. Should be able to drum up some fish here, just don't plan on it being an all day slay fest.

Hitting repeat this week... Not a whole lot to report as the season is winding down. Still have some lake opportunities on late season lakes but not much for reports.... most folks have been hitting moving water and steelhead fisheries.
