Flows have come down considerably on the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene River since last week's update. No direct reports as of the last couple days, but since the NF CDA and St. Joe River fish very similar I'd say the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene is good-to-go. At current levels and dropping more opportunities will open up. A raft or drift boat does help with covering more fishable water, however, there is still plenty of chances from the bank too. Pack your dry flies... it's that time of the year!

The St. Joe River fished very well Saturday for Mike and other anglers. Sticking to the "slower" water areas is key to success during these early season days. Fish are looking up and will eat swkalas and nemouras. The river above Avery is not ideal yet (still very early) and the road conditions are not good, many down trees and boulders from a windy / wet winter. The better water is below Avery anyways. Don't wait til summer to fish... there was minimal snowpack this year so water conditions this summer might get very tough. The spring however should be excellent.Current Flow

This is a great time of year to explore a variety of lakes around the area. When the rivers are high and unpredictable, lake fishing is a great time to pull on some large fish and spend a nice day on the water. The local favorites have all been fishing well. Amber and Coffeepot continue to be the most consistent for numbers and quality of fish. Medical has been picking up a bit but still tough a lot of days, some really nice fish have been caught here recently though. Fourth of July lake is open for a few more days, it will close until next winter after March 31st.
Need a fresh lake line? We just got shipments in from Scientific Anglers and Rio!

Reports for steelheading on the Grande Ronde, Snake and Clearwater are wrapped up for the season. Time to let them spawn. We will begin reports for steelies late summer as they trickle back into the Columbia system. We will periodically have some smallmouth reports from this region when we get them.
