The Fishing

Still good fishing on the Spokane River lately (as it always is this time of the year). BWO's, some October caddis, chubby chernobyls, double nymph (or euro rigs), streamers, and soft hackles all potential... just whatever your preference is! The bigger fish have been on the prowl lately too. Flows are still low so getting around is easy. Great time to get out and enjoy the home water in fall colors.

The Fishing

Nothing crazy to update on the North Fork of the Coeur d'Alene. You can still use some terrestrials but definitely pack your fall bugs like mahogany duns and blue winged olive mayflies. Toss in a few caddis as well for fall caddis. October caddis are still out, but doesn't sound like they have been as good. Find the pools and you will find the fish.

The Fishing

Still the same deal on the St. Joe River, good fall fishing. No need for an early start, mornings will be streamer or nymphing. As it warms up you can have some good dry fly fishing. Fall bugs in your box should include October caddis, mahogany duns, bwo's, purple haze, and midges. An rusty or orange color chubby with a perdigon (or similar) dropper can work great in the afternoons. The window of opportunity is going to get shorter / smaller as the weather cools off and days get shorter.

Miscellaneous

The Fishing

The NF Clearwater and Kelly Creek are still fishing good! Not as good as a couple weeks ago, but still very productive. Orange chubbies or norm woods chubbies (October caddis style) are good, ants are still producing. Not too many people, mornings are slow with cold temps. Streamer fishing is productive too.

Steelhead Rivers

The Fishing

The Grande Ronde has been producing some fish here and there, depends on the section day, time, sun conditions, barometric pressure, angling ability, and earth's rotational axis. It's steelheading... you aren't always fishing to fish. Kenyon has had some consistent angling same with our other guide Sean Wonders and friends. Some reports have been zero caught though. Fish traditionals on dry lines, fish skaters, fish sink tips and leeches, fish indicators... hell I don't care how you fish as long as it's legal!

Clearwater River - always some fish around, rarely some caught, sometimes they are BIG though! Peak season, don't expect any of these rivers to be quiet.
