Getting back to fishing...
According to the InciWeb Site Trout Creek Road to Hoodoo Pass and the NF Clearwater / Kelly Creek is open and passable. Folks are advised to drive slow incase of fire fighter activity. It also appears that the fire have been 90% contained.
What this means for anglers is that accessing the NF Clearwater and Kelly Creek for Labor Day weekend and beyond will be a lot easier as long as the fires don't flare back up. Angling pressure here has been non existent at least from what we can tell. Nobody seemed to want to drive the extra bit of time it would take to go Cedar Creek or up through Pierce.
My suggestion for flies would be hopper / dropper, caddis or caddis emergers, ants, beetles, chernobyls, etc. Mornings I'm guessing are best with less activity mid day and a little pick-up when the sun starts to settle and shade hits the water.
Good luck and be safe if you head out!
