The Methow River opened Wednesday the 16th until further notice. Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife made the decision to re-open this steelhead fishery and several others including the Wenatchee for mandatory retention of 2 steelhead. As always all native steelhead with un-clipped adipose fin must remain in the water at all times.
Just an educated guess as to what to fish would be stonefly nymphs in natural colors, small attractor nymphs, beads (10mm in natural roe or similar colors to imitate Chinook spawn), and swinging small leeches and traditionals. I would even say the potential of skating a fish is pretty during this time of the year.
This river does close without much advanced warning so do check back to the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's website before heading out!!
