Shop local, fish local.
The countdown has begun. The countdown until Christmas, the countdown until the first day of winter and darkest day of the year, the countdown until spring. I'm actually just counting down until spring, I do love our pre-runoff fishing around the region! Other than last week's cold snap we actually can't complain too much, it's been pretty fishable all fall now. With "true" winter around the corner I hope we can get a few tolerable days of winter fishing in to keep the winter blues away.
Our hometown water has been the place to be. If you are needing a fish fix this winter look no further than your backyard. The Spokane River is a wonderful place to get out and wet a line for a few hours during the winter months. No need to travel far, it's all right here.
No reports from the nearby Idaho streams. I would imagine the NF Coeur d'Alene is doable on the lower end with deep dredging nymphs or streamers, but in all honesty none of us have attempted to go here for a few weeks now. Too much goodness on the Spokane to pass up. Some folks are steelhead fishing on the Snake River though. It's not red hot, but fish have been swung on sink-tips and marabou patterns.
We aren't going to blast you with holiday promotional stuff, we try to just stick to fly fishing around here. IF you need some ideas though please give us a shout, we hope we are your first and last stop for all things fly fishing!
See you in the shop and enjoy the 40+ degree weather this week!
