Escape the smoke and clear your mind!

Just because it's smokey down here in Spokane Valley and nearby areas doesn't necessarily mean it smokey just across the border in the Idaho Panhandle. Heather Hodson and the ladies of United Women on the Fly / Spokane Women on the Fly were recently deep in the mountains in search of clear skies and cutthroat. Looks like both were found in great abundance!

Heather reported good fishing for her and the crew with hatches of pmd's, caddis, yellow sallies and terrestrials. Keys to success were longer and finer leaders with the late summer conditions and educated fish. She also noted swinging soft hackles was productive, an often overlooked tactic but deadly for finicky trout.

It looks like the group had a great time so if you are interested in joining them on one of their many outings be sure to check out their Facebook Page for the latest events and meet-ups.

So if the smoke has you down, it's probably time to head out of town! A short drive into Idaho can do wonders for your mental health and lungs!
