Spokane River Trout Fishing

Thank you for your support!

Happy Holidays from all of us at the Silver Bow Fly Shop. We just want to say thank you for your continued support, friendships, fishing stories, and business this past season. Many of you have patronized the Silver Bow for numerous years, some of you are new to the shop, whether you are an old friend or a new one we hope you find our shop a useful source for information or gear.

2017 overall has been a great year and we are optimistic about 2018. Spring fishing around our area was good with windows of opportunity during runoff for those that could get out. Runoff seems to happen about a month earlier than it used which opens up more opportunity earlier in the season. I recently gave a presentation at the Spokane Fly Fishers about "pre-runoff" fishing and can't express enough how good fishing can be during the first 5 months of year... there is life before June!

Summer certainly had it's challenges with all of the fires and it was sad to see so many acres burned all across the west. Last years snowpack did maintain river volumes and temps compared to the previous years which was good to see. With the amount of snowpack starting to accumulate in the mountains we will cross our fingers for better summer conditions next year.

Fall fishing shaped up quickly though once the fires came to a screeching halt in early September. The fall in my opinion, was incredible fishing on our home town river the Spokane. We really enjoyed throwing large chernobyls the first part of fall and then switching to bwo's as the season progressed. If you still haven't experienced your river we encourage you to do so. We can set you up with the bugs, where to go, or take you out on a trip.

Steelhead fishing was looking bleak to say the least as we headed into the start of the season with a record low return. All of the doom and gloom though quickly changed into the "best-worst-year-ever" as catch rates were very positive reported our guide staff. Customers reported good numbers as well and even lately fishing continues to be decent-good on the Grande Ronde and Snake Rivers.

We wish you and your families happy holidays from the Silver Bow and hope to see you in the shop soon!
